The Toronto Insider follows a strict code of ethics to maintain trust, integrity, and professional conduct within our newsroom.

Ethical Principles

1. Honesty & Transparency

Journalists must present truthful information and disclose any relevant conflicts of interest.

2. Independence

Our newsroom does not accept gifts, payments, or incentives that could influence reporting.

3. Respect for Privacy

Private individuals are afforded greater privacy protection than public figures. We avoid unnecessary or invasive reporting.

4. No Plagiarism

All content must be original. Any outside material must be properly credited.

5. Sensitivity to Harm

We avoid publishing content that could cause unwarranted harm, including graphic details, speculative claims, or identity disclosures in sensitive cases.

6. Protection of Sources

We protect confidential sources unless they consent to being identified.

7. Responsibility to the Public

We operate in service of the public good, not personal or political agendas.
