The once-cancelled Toronto street festival, Taste of the Junction, is set to make a massive comeback in 2026. The festival’s revival is largely thanks to the city’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as well as the introduction of the Community Celebration Support Fund, a city-approved grant program designed to bolster local cultural events.
Taste of the Junction’s Revival
The Taste of the Junction, a beloved Toronto event known for its vendor markets, performances, and unique culinary experiences, was sadly cancelled in 2025. The decision was part of a wider trend of festival and event cancellations, and came as a disappointment to many who looked forward to the annual event. The Board of Management explained that their resources would be redirected towards supporting other local events, such as the Window Wonderland winter event and the CaféTO patio program in the summer.
However, the festival has recently received a significant financial boost, breathing new life into the once-cancelled event. The Junction BIA was awarded nearly $27,000 from the Community Celebration Support Fund. With this grant and other resources, the event now boasts a budget exceeding $61,500 for the 2026 edition. The revival of the festival has already sparked interest from over 35 vendors, and plans for the event include cultural installations and an innovative augmented reality mural.
Vendor Lineup and Event Details
The revival of Taste of the Junction has attracted a large and diverse group of vendors. Some of the notable names include Chiang Mai, Clandestina Mexican Grill & Bar, Gabby’s on Dundas, The Sweet Potato, and The Draft Room. With such a lineup, attendees can expect an exciting array of culinary delights to sample and enjoy.
The Taste of the Junction is scheduled to take place on June 27, 2026, at the Green P lot located at 385 Pacific Ave. The revival of this much-loved street festival is a testament to the city’s resilience and commitment to supporting local cultural events, and is sure to be a highlight of the summer.
