The Canadian Football League’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers have made a significant move to bolster their offensive lineup for the upcoming seasons. The team announced on Monday that they have re-signed their star running back, Brady Oliveira, to a three-year contract extension. With this move, the Blue Bombers ink home-grown running back Oliveira to a three-year extension, securing his valuable services and preventing him from entering free agency in February.
Brady Oliveira’s Impressive Career Stats
The 28-year-old Oliveira, a native of Winnipeg, has been a standout performer for the Blue Bombers. In the 2025 season, he rushed for an impressive 1,163 yards and scored three touchdowns. His versatility as a player was further highlighted as he set career highs in receiving, with 61 receptions amounting to 546 yards.
Oliveira’s performance has been consistently stellar throughout his career. He was named the CFL’s outstanding player in 2024, during which he ran for 1,353 yards and secured a second consecutive league rushing title. He also scored three touchdowns and added another through receiving.
In 2023, Oliveira achieved career highs with 13 touchdowns (nine rushing, four receiving) and 1,534 rushing yards. His exceptional playing earned him the title of top Canadian and an all-CFL selection in both 2023 and 2024.
Oliveira’s Journey with the Blue Bombers
Brady Oliveira’s journey with the Blue Bombers started when he was selected by the team in the second round, 14th overall, in the 2019 CFL draft. The talented running back, who played for North Dakota prior to his CFL career, has since suited up for 83 games for the club.
Oliveira has contributed significantly to the team’s success, scoring 27 touchdowns and playing a critical role in the team’s Grey Cup victories in 2019 and 2021. His three-year contract extension not only acknowledges his valuable contributions but also secures his services for the team’s future endeavors.
Oliveira is expected to speak about his contract extension at a media conference on Tuesday, further detailing his journey and future plans with the Blue Bombers.
