Brandon Ingram scores 28 points, Raptors end four-game skid with win over Heat

Published on

The Toronto Raptors managed to snap a four-game losing streak on Monday night with a much-needed victory over the Miami Heat, courtesy of a stunning performance from forward Brandon Ingram. Scoring an impressive 28 points, Brandon Ingram was instrumental in leading the Raptors to a 106-96 win, thereby extending the Heat’s own losing streak to five games.

Game Highlights

Among the defining moments of the game was the unfortunate injury to Miami forward Nikola Jovic. Jovic took a hard foul from Collin Murray-Boyles while driving to the basket, leading to an elbow injury that sidelined him just 12 seconds after he entered the game. This incident undoubtedly played a role in the overall outcome of the match.

Complementing Ingram’s stellar performance, Scottie Barnes contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Immanuel Quickley added 15 points for the Raptors. The team’s effective three-point shooting also factored heavily into their victory, with the Raptors making a total of 16 three-pointers. Ingram himself shot 5 of 7 from behind the arc.

Other Key Performances

In addition to the performances of Ingram, Barnes, and Quickley, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Gradey Dick also made valuable contributions, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. On the Miami side, Norman Powell and Bam Adebayo were the standout players, each scoring 20 points. Davion Mitchell also chipped in with 12 points, despite the absence of Tyler Herro who sat out due to a right toe contusion.

This game marked the first instance this season where the Heat were unable to surpass the 100-point mark. The Raptors took the lead for good with a 17-2 run in the fourth quarter. Jamal Shead’s three-pointer with 7:31 remaining put the Raptors ahead 91-81, a lead they managed to maintain till the final buzzer.

Looking Ahead

The Raptors are currently 4-6 since their third-leading scorer, RJ Barrett, sprained his right knee against Brooklyn on Nov. 23. Barrett, who averages 19.4 points per game, started on-court workouts on Monday, as confirmed by coach Darko Rajakovic. This development signals positive news for the Raptors as they look to regain momentum in the upcoming matches.

As for their next games, the Raptors will be facing the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday. On the other hand, the Heat will be looking to end their losing streak when they go up against the Brooklyn Nets, also scheduled for Thursday.
