Toronto is throwing a huge free New Years Eve party on the waterfront

Published on

Toronto is throwing a huge free New Year’s Eve party on the waterfront, offering locals and visitors alike a grand way to welcome 2026. The annual event, known for its vibrant atmosphere and spectacular fireworks display, is a must-attend if you’re in the city and want to ring in the New Year outdoors amidst a lively crowd of revelers.

New Year’s Eve Celebration at Toronto’s Waterfront

Every December 31st, Toronto’s waterfront transforms into a bustling hub for the city’s massive New Year’s Eve celebration. This year, the party will feature live music, dancing, pop-up performances, and skating. However, the highlight of the night is undoubtedly the 10-minute, music-synced fireworks show scheduled for midnight. The breathtaking display can be viewed from various spots along the waterfront, including Toronto Music Garden, Sherbourne Common, Sugar Beach Park, HTO Park and HTO Park West, Harbour Square Park, and Harbourfront Centre.

A Night of Music and Surprises

The celebration begins at 10 p.m. with a tribute to Canadian music and a host of festive surprises. The Harbourfront Centre, one of the main viewing locations, will feature performances by indie-pop band cootie catcher, R&B artist Kalisway, and headliner Lu Kala, a Congolese-Canadian pop singer known for her collaborations with renowned artists like Latto, Cyndie Lauper, and Katy Perry.

Winterfest at Harbourfront Centre

In addition to the New Year’s Eve celebration, the Harbourfront Centre’s ongoing Winterfest promises to keep the energy high with a range of activities. Attendees can enjoy skating, immersive light displays, curated foods, and a giant winter maze. The party doesn’t stop with the fireworks – DJ sets will keep the crowd entertained until 1 a.m. on January 1, 2026.

Free Transit Services for New Year’s Eve

As part of its commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve for all, the City of Toronto has announced free service on TTC, GO Transit, and UP Express from 7 p.m. on December 31st to 8 a.m. on January 1st, 2026. This move not only encourages party-goers to make responsible transportation choices but also makes it easier for everyone to participate in the waterfront celebration.
