Despite already investing significantly in free agency, the team’s management has maintained their interest in re-signing shortstop Bo Bichette, and have also been linked with All-Star Kyle Tucker. However, another big name has recently been connected with the Blue Jays – Alex Bregman, the Boston Red Sox slugger.

Blue Jays’ Off-Season Activities

The Blue Jays have already made headlines by signing Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, and Tyler Rogers. Yet, their management is not content and has expressed their intent to add a big hitter to their lineup. The team is reportedly keeping their options open and exploring multiple possibilities.

Re-signing Bo Bichette

One of the top priorities for the Blue Jays is to re-sign their talented shortstop, Bo Bichette. Bichette has reportedly informed teams that he is open to playing second base, which adds to his value and versatility. He has been instrumental in the Blue Jays’ recent progress and keeping him would be a big boost for the team.

Interest in Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman

In addition to Bichette, the Blue Jays have also shown interest in four-time All-Star Kyle Tucker. However, the most intriguing possibility is their interest in Alex Bregman. The 31-year-old spent the 2025 season with the Boston Red Sox, hitting .273 with 18 home runs and 62 RBI, and earning his third All-Star selection.

“I don’t think the Blue Jays are done, I think they’re going to get a big bat,” ESPN’s Jeff Passan said on The Michael Kay Show. “Whether that’s Kyle Tucker, or Alex Bregman, or Bo Bichette, or maybe multiple of them.”

Blue Jays’ Strategy

The Blue Jays are in a strong position and willing to spend on strengthening their team. With Vladimir Guerrero entering his prime years, the management is looking to seize the opportunity and build a competitive team. Bregman could potentially be an insurance for the Blue Jays if Bichette decides to sign elsewhere. The former Astro has experience at both third and shortstop positions, and like Bichette, is open to playing second base if required.
